An 11-year-old cancer survivor who was hospitalized with a head injury is now recovering from third-degree burns after her shirt mysteriously caught fire in a Portland, Ore., hospital room. [1]

After hitting her head at school and losing consciousness, Ireland Lane was taken to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, according to the Oregonian. [...] Though her father awoke and quickly extinguished the flames, Ireland has been transferred to Legacy Oregon Burn Center with third-degree burns over much of her torso and head; her hair also caught fire, the Oregonian reports. The Oregonian reported that Ireland Lane ran out of her hospital room screaming with the front of her t-shirt covered in flames. [3]

An 11-year-old girl must now undergo treatment meant to deal with several burns on her body, not because she was injured during a fire, but because she herself burst into flames while resting in a bed at a hospital in Portland, Oregon. [4]

Firefighters in China’s Shangdong Province saw through a washing machine to free a three-year-old girl who had climbed inside. [1]

This little toddler is in deep trouble — trapped from the waist down in a washing machine in the eastern Shangdong Province. [2]

It appears that her parents left her unsupervised in a family friend’s home, and the toddler climbed into the washing machine, getting stuck from her waist down. [3]
