Tokyo Sky Tree

Led by Tobu Railway and a group of six terrestrial broadcasters headed by NHK, the tower project forms the centrepiece of a large commercial development equidistant from Tokyo Skytree and Oshiage train stations, north-east of Tokyo station. [1]

The site of the tower lies at the confluence of the Sumida and Arakawa rivers joined by the east-west axis of Tokyo city traffic, overlooking the intersection of roads from three directions. [2]

No companies had real experience in building such tall structures; thus, the construction of this tower posed a significant technical challenge to Obayashi. [5]
