Occupy Wall Street

On September 17, we want to see 20,000 people flood into lower Manhattan, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months. [1]

On the 17th of September, we want to see 20,000 people to flood into lower Manhattan, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months. [2]

Occupy Wall Street has recently come into the media spotlight, not because of our political message, but because certain high-ranking members of the NYPD punched, threw, and stepped on peaceful marchers. [3]

The time has come to deploy this emerging stratagem against the greatest corrupter of our democracy: Wall Street, the financial Gomorrah of America. [1]

Occupy Wall Street is an ongoing demonstration opposing what participants view as negative corporate influence over U.S. politics and a lack of legal repercussions over the global financial crisis. [4]

Tagged: New York City, wall st. [2]

Inspired by the Egyptian Tahrir Square uprising and the Spanish acampadas, we vow to end the monied corruption of our democracy … join us! [5]

Like our brothers and sisters in Egypt, Greece, Spain, and Iceland, we plan to use the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic of mass occupation to restore democracy in America. [2]

Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life. [5]

The protest was coordinated with similar though smaller events nationwide; as of September 27 the Occupy Wall Street site reported that “52 cities were occupied or organizing” including Boston, San Francisco, and Chicago, as coordinated on Occupytogether.org. [4]

Once there, we shall incessantly repeat one simple demand in a plurality of voices and we will not leave until that demand has been met. [2]

NYPD police officers prohibited protesters from erecting tents, citing loitering rules. [...] The aim of the demonstration is to begin a sustained occupation of Wall Street, the financial district of New York City, to draw attention to Wall Street’s misdeeds and call for structural economic reforms. [4]

A Facebook poll started by Adbusters suggests the demand might be an end to corporate personhood. [2]

A daily TV/radio news program, hosted by Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez, airing on over 900 stations, pioneering the largest community media collaboration in the United States. [6]
