Video that surfaced Tuesday shows Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) delivering the shocking remarks at a Aug. 22 jobs event in Miami sponsored by the caucus. [1]

The tea party is stopping change in Congress, Andre Carson said. [2]

Democratic Rep. Andre Carson said at Congressional Black Caucus event last week that some Tea Party-backed members of Congress would love to see African Americans “hanging on a tree.” [3]

“Once again, in the form of Democratic Representative Andre Carson, a leader of the Congressional Black Caucus, the left resorts to the most hideous slurs to attempt to marginalize the mainstream of American political thought. [4]

Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN) recently told an audience that the Tea Party is out to lynch black people. [5]

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana 7th District Congressman Andre Carson is under fire - and supported - for controversial remarks he made that were captured on tape. [6]

While working hard for his district in Washington D.C., Andr? Carson always makes time for his family; wife Mariama and daughter Salimah. [...] On February 13, Congressman Carson addressed an enthusiastic crowd at the Indiana State Fairgrounds for the 2010 Democratic Slating Convention. [7]

? The Tea Party is stopping that change,” Carson says in a video montage posted on conservative radio host Glenn Beck ’s site, TheBlaze.com. [1]

He accused the Tea Party movement of using “Jim Crow” tactics to stop economic progress, particularly among minorities. [3]

Some of these folks in Congress would love to see us as second class citizens. [1]

“Some of these folks in Congress right now would love to see us as second-class citizens,” Carson said at an Aug. 22 event in Miami, during a CBC jobs tour. [3]

Critics are demanding an apology after they claim Carson called some members of the Tea Party racist. [4]

Some of them in Congress right now of this Tea Party would love to see you and me hanging on a tree,” Carson told the group. [6]

A YouTube video has brought attention to Representative Andre Carson and people are calling comments he made controversial. [4]

autumn

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Autumn (also known as Fall in North American English) is one of the four temperate seasons. [1]

Autumn is the season after summer and before winter. [2]

Before the 16th century, harvest was the term usually used to refer to the season, as it is common in other West Germanic languages to this day (cf. [3]

In the Southern Hemisphere, it runs from the autumnal equinox (20 March) to the winter solstice (21 June). [2]

In the northern hemisphere, the start of autumn is generally considered to be around September, and in the southern hemisphere, its beginning is considered to be around March. [...] However as more people gradually moved from working the land to living in towns (especially those who could read and write, the only people whose use of language we now know), the word harvest lost its reference to the time of year and came to refer only to the actual activity of reaping, and fall and autumn began to replace it as a reference to the season. [1]

In the Northern Hemisphere it is from the September equinox to the December solstice; in the Southern Hemisphere it is from the March equinox to the June solstice. [4]

In the Northern Hemisphere, it begins with the autumnal equinox (22 September) and ends with the winter solstice (21 December). [2]

Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter usually in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere) when the arrival of night becomes noticeably earlier. [3]

The exact derivation is unclear, the Old English fi?ll or feallan and the Old Norse fall all being possible candidates. [5]

The term came to denote the season in 16th century England, a contraction of Middle English expressions like “fall of the leaf” and “fall of the year”. [...] During the 17th century, English emigration to the British colonies in North America was at its peak, and the new settlers took the English language with them. [...] Autumn is one of the four temperate seasons. [3]

There’s also the many North American Indian festivals tied to harvest of autumnally ripe foods gathered in the wild, the Chinese Mid-Autumn or Moon festival, and many others. [...] Still extant echoes of these celebrations are found in the mid-autumn Thanksgiving holiday of the United States, and the Jewish Sukkot holiday with its roots as a full moon harvest festival of “tabernacles” (huts wherein the harvest was processed and which later gained religious significance). The Amazing Race

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

The nineteenth instalment of The Amazing Race commeneces, with all new teams vying for the one million dollar cash prize. [1]

Bad taxi luck struck again on The Amazing Race - this time eliminating Andie DeKroon, 43, and the daughter she put up for adoption and is getting to know, Jenna Sykes. [...] CBS is gearing up for another Amazing Race around the world: The network has ordered the 20th installment of the reality competition series. [2]

The Amazing Race 13: This season of The Amazing Race came to CBS on September 28, 2008 and ended on December 7. [1]

From the beaches of Rio to a trailer park in the Florida Keys, sisters Kisha & Jen overcame past demons and tough competition to settle their unfinished business and win The Amazing Race. [3]

It aired on CBS in the United States on a special 90-minute episode; and then it returned to its normal hour-long format the following week on Sunday nights at 8:00 p.m. [4]

Contestants strive to arrive first at “pit stops ” at the end of each leg of the race to win prizes and to avoid coming in last, which carries the possibility of elimination or a significant disadvantage in the following leg. [5]

Congratulations to Nat & Kat, winners of this season of the race! [1]

It’s fair to say there has been a mixed reaction to CBS’ announcement that Big Brother 13 would feature the return of “dynamic duos” from the show’s past. [2]

This item would allow the team to skip any Detour, Roadblock, or Route Marker task before Leg 8. [4]

Hosted by Phil Keoghan, the seven-time Emmy-winning show sends teams of two around the globe competing in tasks with one victorious duo winning $1 million. [2]

Note this table does not necessarily reflect all content broadcast on television due to inclusion or exclusion of some data. [4]

Most Route Markers are attached to the boxes that contain clue envelopes, but some may mark the place where the teams must go in order to complete tasks, or may be used to line a course that the teams must follow. [5]

The race visited two new countries, Ghana and Bangladesh, and introduced two new twists — the Express Pass, which could be used to bypass a single task on a leg (used only up to the eighth leg), and the Double U-Turn, which involved two teams forcing two different teams to turn back and complete both Detours. [1]

Rob and Alex attempt to eat four pounds (1.8 kg) of meat at an Argentine barbecue during a Roadblock on Leg 3 of Season 7. [5]

San Francisco Giants

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

After beginning the season 10-2, the Giants’ Ryan Vogelsong has dropped his past three games despite allowing three earned runs or fewer in each start. [1]

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner throws to the Chicago Cubs during the second inning of a baseball game in San Francisco, Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011. [2]

Madison Bumgarner dominated the Cubs to end the Giants’ three-game losing streak on Wednesday.More [3]

Unlike a year ago at this time, when the Giants catapulted to the NL West lead thanks to the San Diego Padres’ 10-game losing streak, the Arizona Diamondbacks come to town this weekend with a newfound swagger. [1]

San Francisco began the day a season-high six games behind NL West-leading Arizona, which was hosting Colorado on Wednesday night. [2]

Not coincidentally, the Giants are batting.177 with runners in scoring position over the last three weeks. [1]

The game was a replay of a tied game that resulted from the Merkle Boner. [4]

A group of softball legends would come to AT&T Park and stage a power-hitting show at dusk. [5]

Shortstop Brandon Crawford was hitting.190 when he was sent to the minors in late July and is batting only.253 at Fresno, while 21-year-old switch-hitting catcher Hector Sanchez is batting just.261. [1]

[3]

Leadoff-hitting center fielder Gary Brown, the Giants’ first-round draft choice in 2010, has dominated the California League this season, but he won’t get a shot at the majors. [5]

Bumgarner matched his career high with 11 strikeouts, Jeff Keppinger and Pablo Sandoval hit consecutive home runs in the fourth inning, and San Francisco beat the Chicago Cubs 4-0 on Wednesday to snap a three-game skid and avoid a sweep. [2]

Come out to AT&T Park or watch live on MLB.TV as Matt Cain and the Giants try to close the gap on the Arizona Diamondbacks at 7:15 p.m. [3]

A sorely needed commodity given how poorly most Giants pitchers hold runners on base. [1]
