ios 5

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Many people (including myself) were a bit disappointed that Apple didn’t devote any time during the iPad 2 unveiling to talking about iOS 5, the next major revamp of the software. [1]

TechCrunch reports that Apple has decided to wait until fall 2011 to launch their rumored iOS 5 for iOS devices: iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. [2]

We’re expecting big things from Apple this year: the iPhone 5 is imminent, some rumours suggest we’ll see the iPad 3 as early as this autumn and there’s a new version of iOS, iOS 5, in development. [3]

According to sources close to Engadget, Apple is going to show off an early preview version of iOS 5 at the iPad 2 media event, which is going to be held on Wednesday, March 2nd, at the famous Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. [4]

Just two years after its release, the iPhone 3GS may be deemed “too old” for Apple’s next iteration of its mobile operating system, iOS 5. [5]

Here is a look at the rumors, possibilities, and ideas of what may be included in iOS 5. [6]

In a move that should surprise no one, Apple is testing iOS 5, the next version of its iPhone operating system, ahead of a big reveal in June. [7]

It is a monumental pain to have to connect my iPhone to my Mac using something as old-fashioned and undignified as a cable. [8]

If our sources are right, this would break the pattern of Apple unveiling the latest iOS iteration in the early spring, leading up to a summer launch alongside new iPhone hardware. [...] Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life. [1]

You can follow us on Twitter or join our Facebook fanpage to keep yourself updated on all the latest from Microsoft, Google and Apple. [4]

Apple iPhone 3GS wont be upgradable to iOS 5.x. [5]

If you own an iPad, you’re probably still enjoying all that the latest upgrade gave (and lamenting what it took away), but the rest of us are already looking ahead to the future and dreaming of what the next major revision of iOS might bring. [8]

Just like our iPhone 5 resource (which launched earlier today), this webpage is bursting at the seams with all the rumors and information you need to know about Apple’s upcoming software update. [9]

Some of these new iOS 5 features will be specific to the iPhone 5’s technology, as the iOS 4 was to the iPhone 4, and some will be more relevant to older iPhone models like the the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3Gs. [6]

icloud

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Apple has begun adopting the “iCloud” name within several products currently under development, suggesting the appropriately labeled moniker is indeed the frontrunner for the company’s soon-to-debut Internet cloud service, which will span beyond streaming music, AppleInsider has learned. [1]

We are just waiting on the last link to be put into place for our wireless sensor network so that we can get the ‘good stuff’ into icloud’s cloud, so that you can look and play with it. [2]

… a tipster of mine says that it might be iCloud. [3]

This article is about the cloud service operated by Apple Inc.. [4]

According to people familiar with the matter, Apple is prepping beta versions of both iOS 5.0 and Mac OS X Lion ahead of its annual developers conference that integrate with a service dubbed “iCloud,” enabling users to sync and store much of the same information they currently can with the company’s existing MobileMe service, such as bookmarks, email, contacts and iCal events. All of the ‘back-end’ stuff to store data from Guido, and soon the wetland is finished and widgets to mashup Guido’s data into web pages and our Moodle learning management system is completed and working. [2]

Word that Apple is making active use of the name in future versions of its operating systems comes just one day after GigaOm’s Om Malik cited sources as saying that the iPhone maker this month acquired the iCloud.com domain name for an estimated $4.5 million from Sweden-based desktop-as-a-service company, Xcerion. Apple executives have already gone on record as stating that the facility was conceived to support the future of both its iTunes and MobileMe services, which will soon interface with iCloud. [1]

call of duty elite

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

A post over on the Electric Hydra forums (via Destructoid) has what it claims are logos for Modern Warfare 3 and something called Call of Duty: Elite. [1]

What is a bit surprising is the “Call of Duty: Elite” image. [2]

Two logos were leaked; one clearly suggesting ‘MW3′, the other ‘Call of Duty Elite’ which would suggest a premium online service. [3]

Other than reporting $503 million in profits, the publisher also further revealed its plans for the Call of Duty franchise. [4]

On Monday, we were hoping for an official announcement of the game during Activision’s earnings call, but we only received a few details, acknowledging that “some” type of “Call of Duty” game was coming in 2011. [2]

The next Call of Duty game will be announced within weeks, and with EA’s Battlefield 3 looking so impressive we can expect both to compete for gamers hard earned cash. [3]

What we heard: On Monday, Activision issued its earnings for the January-March quarter. [5]

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 getting an official reveal could honestly happen any day now, so if the logo posted is indeed the real deal, it’s really not so outrageous. [1]

Although we’re taking the logos with a pinch of salt for now (someone really likes the emboss toolin Photoshop) Modern Warfare 3 is all but confirmed as Activision’s next big Call of Duty release. [6]

One is a logo for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. [4]

The game is rumored to be called for the time being Call of Duty Project Colossus, at least according to the placeholder posted by Tesco earlier this week, and the game is supposedly also getting a full reveal in the next issue of OPM. [1]

It will be no surprise to any gamer if Modern Warfare 3 is the next Activision FPS, and yesterday reports on the internet suggested this was the case. [3]

More importantly, the other two images appear to be logos for “Modern Warfare 3″ and a mysteriously titled “Call of Duty: Elite.” [2]

Users who looked at content for this game also looked at these games. [4]

Call of Duty Elite could well be the online-specific spin-off that Activision has been talking up - a quick domain name search shows that callofdutyelite.com was registered by domain protection service markmonitor.com, the same firm that has registered previous Call of Duty-related domains before they revert to Activision. , and by preventing the establishment of pathogenic bacteria within the intestine. [6]

It is important to remember that most kinds of E. coli bacteria do not cause disease in humans, indeed, some are beneficial, and some cause infections other than gastrointestinal infections, such urinary tract infections. [7]

The DNA of E. coli found in outbreak victims, in food and environmental samples is digested into pieces with enzymes that are able to specifically break the DNA molecule into individual pieces. [8]

Most E. coli strains are harmless, but some, such as serotype O157:H7, can cause serious food poisoning in humans, and are occasionally responsible for product recalls. [6]

This can happen when you drink water or eat food that has been contaminated by feces. [...] You get an E. coli infection by coming into contact with the feces, or stool, of humans or animals. [4]

Sounds weird, but, it’s true - billions of these little critters chugging away, making things we need, helping to digest our food, etc., — very important to us and most of them are exceedingly kind to us - except when they become teenagers and enter the throes of puberty (just kidding). [3]
