carla gugino

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Whether she is appearing in a frothy television comedy or an intense movie drama, Carla Gugino creates interesting and believable characters. [1]

Carla Gugino (born August 29, 1971) is an American actress known for her roles of Sally Jupiter in Watchmen, Lucille in Sin City, Amanda Daniels in seasons 3, 5 and 7 of Entourage, Ingrid Cortez in the Spy Kids film trilogy, and as the lead characters of the television series Karen Sisco and Threshold. [2]

Just before the time period ended, Gugino made her film debut in the comedy Troop Beverly Hills (1986). [1]

She succeeded, but soon found the fast pace of high-fashion modeling too much for her and moved to Los Angeles, where she took advice from an aunt, model Carol Merril, best known for her work on Let’s Make a Deal game show, and enrolled in acting classes to study under drama coach Gene Bua. [3]

Subsequently proving she had what it takes to thrill in the two Spy Kids sequels, Gugino was later cast as the eponymous character in the 2003 action/crime hybrid series Karen Sisco. [1]

She starred in two short-lived TV series, the ABC crime drama Karen Sisco in 2003, and the CBS science fiction series Threshold in 2005 on CBS. [4]

Gugino quickly found her calling as an actress and she threw herself into her studies. [1]

That’s a lot of story to balance in a 90-minute movie, rendering Elektra Luxx as merely passable when it could be so much more; the movie will shift from story to story at random intervals, taking the viewer out of one tale and into another too abruptly to elicit any real emotion or narrative interest. [5]

In 2001, she appeared as family matriarch Ingrid Cortez in the first Spy Kids film by director Robert Rodriguez (as well as that film’s two sequels in 2002 and 2003). [...] That same year, Gugino appeared as Lucille in the feature film adaptation of Frank Miller ’s graphic novel, Sin City. [4]

During the film’s press day, actress Carla Gugino did this exclusive interview with Collider and talked about the appeal of this rather unusual character, how much she enjoyed getting to revisit Elektra Luxx, and the challenge of shooting a film in 15 days. [5]

After playing Michael J. Fox ’s love interest, Ashley Schaeffer, during the first season of the sitcom Spin City in 1996, Gugino appeared in the 1997 art-house film Lovelife. [2]

Her feature film work includes appearances in Son in Law, Night at the Museum and American Gangster. [4]

Because she was so young, her mother insisted that Gugino study only six months in Los Angeles and then return to San Diego. [3]

Moved with her mother to Paradise, California, when Carla was just five years old. [6]

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

In mid-July each year, Bohemian Grove hosts a two-week encampment of some of the most powerful men in the world. [1]

The Bohemian Grove is a 2700 acre redwood forest, located in Monte Rio, CA. [2]

To commemorate the five year anniversary of his historic infiltration of the Bohemian Grove, the occult playground of the global elite, Alex Jones presents his newest film, The Order of Death, an amazing and horrifying look into the rites and rituals of the modern day descendents of Babylonian mystery cults. [3]

Bohemian Grove is a 2,700-acre (1,100 ha) campground located at 20601 Bohemian Avenue, in Monte Rio, California, belonging to a private San Francisco -based men’s art club known as the Bohemian Club. [1]

It’s an Elks Club for the rich; a fraternity party in the woods; a boy scout camp for old guys, complete with an initiation ceremony and a totem animal, the owl. [4]

The Bohemian Club is a private. [2]

The Bohemian Grove is a 2,700-acre virgin redwood grove in Northern California, 75 miles north of San Francisco (map), where the rich, the powerful, and their entourage visit with each other during the last two weeks of July while camping out in cabins and tents. [4]

A 40-foot (12 m) hollow owl statue made of concrete over steel supports stands at the head of the lake in the Grove; this Owl Shrine was designed by sculptor and two-time club president Haig Patigian, and built in the 1920s. [1]

With its high-powered clientele, coveted privacy and cabalistic rituals, the Bohemian Grove has prompted considerable suspicion. [5]

A visit by President Teddy Roosevelt and his family in 1905 was duly mentioned in a city newspaper. [4]

Those attending this meeting, apart from Ernest Lawrence and military officials, included the president of Harvard and representatives of Standard Oil and General Electric. [...] In the 1870s, Henry “Harry” Edwards was an actor with the California Theatre Stock Company, a founding Bohemian and the head entomologist at the California Academy of Sciences. [1]

Bohemian Grove, a secluded campground in California’s Sonoma County, is the site of an annual two-week gathering of a highly select, all-male club, whose members have included every Republican president since Calvin Coolidge. [6]

Members may invite guests to the Grove although those guests are subject to a screening procedure. [1]

It contains accommodation for 2000 people to “camp” in luxury. [2]
