In addition, Ron Isley became a sought-after hook singer for hip-hop acts such as R. Kelly, Warren G., 2Pac and UGK. [1]

For much of the Isley Brothers’ duration, Ron Isley would remain the group’s consistent member of the group as well as the lead vocalist for most of the group’s tenure with sporadic lead shares with his older brothers. [2]

At age 62, Ronald Isley again found himself at the top of the music business, and the Isley Brothers had firmly established a third generation of fans. [3]

[...] In 1972 the group released its best album to date, Brother Brother Brother, a mixture of funky, percussive numbers and smooth, if ponderous, ballads that is still considered by many the seminal Isley Brothers album. [3]

In 1973, the group’s style and sound drastically changed following the release of the 3 + 3 album where brothers Ernie Isley and Marvin Isley and in-law Chris Jasper permanently enter the brothers’ lineup, though the younger brothers had been sporadically providing instrumental help for the brothers since the late 1960s. [1]

The Isley Brothers’ first RCA release, “Turn to Me,” went nowhere but their second release, “Shout,” was a huge hit on the rhythm and blues chart in 1959. [...] Although the Isleys’ exuberant, gospel-tinged style didn’t quite mesh with Motown’s smooth style, the collaboration did produce a major hit, “This Old Heart of Mine,” in 1966. [...] Success continued for the Isley Brothers into the early 1980s when they scored a top 40 pop single “Don’t Say Goodnight” from the platinum selling album, Go All the Way. [2]

Younger brothers Marvin (bass), and Ernie (lead guitar) and brother-in-law Chris Jasper (keyboards) joined their backup band about this time, adding fresh funk and hard rock elements that completed what became the trademark Isley Brothers sound. [3]
