fedor emelianenko

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

The best fighter in the history of mixed martial arts lost in a shocking upset on Saturday night, as Fedor Emelianenko was submitted by Fabricio Werdum early in the first round of their Strikeforce fight in San Jose. [1]

Instead, it’s been about whether Fedor Emelianenko is soon to retire, his thoughts on the UFC, why he’s not fighting Alistair Overeem. [2]

Fedor Emelianenko will never rival Muhammad Ali’s contribution to social progress outside the arena or his flair for showmanship inside it. [3]

M-1 Global says that Tapout withdrew a potential seven-figure, one-year sponsorship deal with Fedor Emelianenko earlier this week after the UFC told the clothing company to dump the fighter or lose access to UFC events. [4]

The man widely considered to be the greatest fighter of our time, Fedor Emelianenko, was handed the first legitimate defeat of his professional fighting career this evening in San Jose as decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Fabricio Werdum made mixed martial arts history in California, submitting the feared Russian heavyweight with vice-like armbar/triangle choke early into the very first round. [5]

In the fight most often cited as the blueprint for beating Fedor, Ricardo Arona took him down repeatedly and attacked with submissions throughout much of the bout. [2]

Fedor Vladimirovich Emelianenko is a Russian Heavyweight mixed martial artist. [6]

“He’s the Muhammad Ali of the sport,” said his friend and attorney, Steve Bash. [7]

Emelianenko looked to have Werdum in a world of trouble in the opening moments of round one of “Strikeforce and M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Rogers”, battering the Brazilian with a series of big left hooks that dropped the submission specialist to the canvas. [5]

All month long, the narrative about Saturday’s Strikeforce/M1: Fedor vs. Werdum show has had little to do with the main event. [2]

Devoutly religious, he brought two Russian Orthodox priests with him on his current trip to the United States. [7]

He has won numerous tournaments and accolades in multiple sports, most notably the Pride 2004 Grand Prix and the World Combat Sambo Championship on multiple occasions, as well as medaling in the Russian National Judo Championship. [6]

The next tier down the ladder of Fedor love consists of his somewhat disillusioned faithful. [3]

Emelianenko, who meets Fabricio Werdum on Saturday at the Strikeforce/M-1 Global card in San Jose, Calif., was to have worn a specially designed Tapout T-shirt during his fight entrance, according to M-1. [4]

He is the current World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts (WAMMA) Heavyweight Champion and the last holder of the Pride Heavyweight Championship. [8]

– Fabricio Werdum upset Fedor Emelianenko on Saturday night, submitting the mixed martial arts legend in the first round of the Strikeforce main event at the HP Pavilion. [1]

Fabricio Werdum forced Emelianenko to tap out with an armbar and triangle choke in the first round of their Strikeforce heavyweight bout tonight at HP Pavilion in San Jose. [2]

Fabricio Werdum (born July 30, 1977) is a Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter, a two-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion, a two-time ADCC world heavyweight champion and European Jiu-Jitsu champion. [3]

A look at the media buildup for Saturday night’s Strikeforce battle between Fedor Emelianenko and Fabricio Werdum. [4]

The best fighter in the history of mixed martial arts lost in a shocking upset on Saturday night, as Fedor Emelianenko was submitted by Fabricio Werdum early in the first round of their Strikeforce fight in San Jose. [5]

Anything, it seems, but Fabricio Werdum. [6]

Fabricio Werdum is expected to be the latest victim for WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko this Saturday when the two meet at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. [7]

Fabricio Werdum, the latest challenger to Emelianenko’s thrown, has fallen into the trap. [9]

“I made a mistake,” said Fedor, who hadn’t lost since 2000. [2]

Instead, it’s been about whether Fedor Emelianenko is soon to retire, his thoughts on the UFC, why he’s not fighting Alistair Overeem. [6]

Werdum, a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu who failed to cut it in the UFC, is expected to fight Strikeforce champion Alistair (The Demolition Man) Overeem of the Netherlands next. [...] Emelianenko (31-2 with one no contest) came into the fight as an 8-1 favourite. [1]

It seems each time a fighter prepares to meet Fedor Emelianenko in the ring, something changes. [9]

He said he knows he has “another fight” with Strikeforce, but Strikeforce announced before the fight that Saturday’s winner would get a shot at heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem. [2]

dinocroc vs supergator

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

In 2010, Roger and Julie Corman produced a third film, Dinocroc vs. Supergator, that will feature the two creatures from Corman’s film dueling one another. [1]

Clear your calendar for June 27th at 9pm Eastern Standard Time, you’ve got a date with the latest film from Oscar Winning producer Roger Corman, Dinocroc vs. Supergator. [2]

View company contact information for Dinocroc vs. Supergator on IMDbPro. [3]

Now here’s the odd thing about the prospects of a Dinocroc vs. Supergator movie: They’re the same monster. [4]

“Dinocroc vs. Supergator” premieres Saturday June 26 9/8C. [5]

SyFy: ‘Dinocroc vs. Supergator’ — Really, the title says it all. [6]

Supergator starts off with at least two torches on our five-torch rating scale. [...] I’ll be frank: any movie with a title like Dinocroc Vs. [...] I think SyFy knows that most genre fans think like this, which is why their SyFy Original Movie series keeps featuring movies with increasingly campy concepts and ideas. [7]

Dread Central has the tip off for the first trailer for the union of 2004’s Dinocroc with 2007’s Supergator and it. [2]

There are 2 film producers who involved in making of this very movie and they are. [8]

Dinocroc is a 2004 horror film, starring Charles Napier and Joanna Pacula, produced by Roger Corman, and directed by Kevin O’Neill. [1]

Now that Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus (review here) has become something of a minor web phenomenon, it should come as no surprise that more animalistic movie monsters are being booked to step into the cinematic squared circle and clash in a motion picture smackdown of b-movie proportions. [...] The Supergator is the exact same monster as that seen in Dinocroc with a mildly greenish tint to its skin color and some very minor tweaking of its snout. [4]

cung le

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

Cung Le got his revenge on Scott Smith Saturday night at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum, effectively using his unorthodox striking to hurt Smith and finally finishing the fight in the second round with a kick to the body and punches on the ground. [1]

No one would have blamed Scott Smith if he opted not to give Cung Le an immediate rematch after knocking him out in December. [2]

It’s been over two years since Cung Le claimed the Strikeforce Middleweight title, snapping Frank Shamrock’s arm with a well placed kick. [3]

He started training at Cung Le Martial Arts in 2004 and has been there since. [4]

But like he has at several other points in his career, he stayed in the fight and waited for the chance to land just one solid blow that would change everything. [5]

His punches and kicks sent Smith crashing to the canvas on multiple occasions throughout the fight and Le seemed to have the fight all but locked up. [6]

Cung Le (born May 25, 1972 in Saigon, South Vietnam) is a Vietnamese American kickboxer, mixed martial artist, and actor from San Jose, California currently competing in Strikeforce. [7]

Cung Le controlled much of the first fight against Scott Smith, but lost via knockout in the third round. [2]

He’s currently working on several movie projects while still keeping in top shape for his next MMA showdown. [8]

As exciting as it is to watch, there are a couple different problems with Scott Smith ’s fighting style. [5]

Critics of Le feel that, by simply looking to outpoint his opponent, Le lets them stay in the fight, keeping the door open for a comeback. [...] Since that time, Cung has greatly faded in the MMA world, taking a lengthy leave of absence, forfeiting the title, and collecting his first loss. [3]

He ended up in San Jose, California where early racial bullying inspired him to learn to fight and also learn how to surf as a way to focus all his anger but after being beat down by a bunch of angry locals he decided to stick with martial arts. [7]

Perhaps no active fighter has had so many of his wins discredited by the “lucky punch” accusation as Smith. [2]

Influenced by his grandfather, who is also his best friend, Anthony’s martial arts training began in 2005 in Susanville, California, with no previous training other than wrestling. [4]
