taylor swift as a child

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

With her homespun charm, curly golden locks, and prodigious gift for songwriting, Taylor Swift is one of the youngest Nashville newcomers to capture a national audience in years. [1]

Taylor Swift became one of country-pop’s brightest (and youngest) faces in 2006, when the 16-year-old vocalist released her first album. [2]

Released in late 2008, Taylor Swift catapulted the young songwriter to stardom, spawning a handful of hits (five consecutive Top Ten singles, a new record for a female solo artist) while earning multi-platinum sales. [3]

Taylor Swift will sing a duet with Miley Cyrus at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night. [4]

Although new to the American public, Swift had been performing since early childhood, taking inspiration and encouragement from her opera-singing grandmother. [3]

Her mom, Andrea, spoke a bit about what Swift was like growing up, saying, “She had the potential to be exhausting.” [4]

Her self-titled debut album, issued in October 2006, spawned a handful of radio hits such as “Tim McGraw,” “Our Song” and “Picture to Burn,” all of which propelled Taylor Swift to triple-platinum status. [1]

Two subsequent EPs — Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection and Beautiful Eyes — helped maintain Swift’s popularity while whetting public demand for her sophomore release, Fearless, which arrived in November 2008. [2]

Her second album, Fearless, stayed at the top of the Billboard charts for two months, while the single Love Story is the most downloaded country song ever, selling two million online. [5]

Preceded by the hit “Love Story,” Swift’s sophomore effort, Fearless, was released in November 2008. [1]

Swift’s parents realized their child’s dedication and began making regular visits to Nashville, TN, where Swift would perform casually and meet with songwriters in the area. [3]

The song drew upon her experience as a lovelorn high-school student, a theme that Swift revisited throughout her self-titled debut album. [2]

gi jane

G.I. Jane is a 1997 action film that tells the fictional story of the first woman to undergo training in U.S. Navy Special Warfare Group. [1]

Solid action film with a great support cast and a perfectly despicable villain played to the hilt by Anne Bancroft as a Senator who compromises GI Jane for her own political gain. [2]

You could be watching video reviews about this product: Gi Jane. [3]

But the bookends of the G.I. Jane soundtrack are the interesting points. [4]

The enigmatic Command Master Chief John Urgayle (Viggo Mortensen) runs the brutal training program that involves 20-hour days of grueling physical tasks designed to wear down recruits’ physical and mental strength, running, marching, and crawling through obstacle courses under the worst weather conditions while carrying landing rafts - not to mention eating out of a garbage can during breaks. [1]

Demi Moore will never top any rational list of great actresses, but as her career stalled in the mid-1990s she had enough internal fire and external physicality to be just right for her title role in G.I. Jane. [3]

O’Neil faces sexism and physical challenges as well as the horse-trading by the Senator who selected her for the experimental program. [1]

There are also three intense instrumental rockers from Trevor Jones. [4]

View company contact information for G.I. Jane on IMDbPro. [...] The poem cited by Master Chief Urgayle is “Self-Pity” by D.H. Lawrence. [...] A female Senator succeeds in enrolling a woman into Navy SEALS training where everyone expects her to fail. [2]

To make the grade, Jordan has to survive a grueling selection process, often called “hell week,” in which 60 percent of all candidates wash out. [...] The SEAL/CRT (Combined Reconnaissance Team) course depicted in the film is offered at Coronado Naval Amphibious Base in California. [1]

The final phase of training (an operational readiness exercise) is interrupted by an emergency situation that requires the SEAL trainees’ support. [4]

O’Neil is hand-picked by U.S. Senator Lillian DeHaven (Anne Bancroft) to go through the rigorous training right along with the men. [1]

Hey, here is a list and a reason of some of the error codes you may encounter whilst connecting your PS3 online, also the required ports need to be opened in order to play online. [1]

armenian genocide

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

The chapter on the Armenian Genocide, however, was more conclusively closed by the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne, which, in extending international recognition to the Republic of Turkey, also absolved it of all responsibilities for the rectification of the crimes committed against the Armenians or for the resettlement of the tens of thousands made homeless and stateless. [1]

The Armenian Genocide was carried out by the “Young Turk” government of the Ottoman Empire in 1915-1916 (with subsidiaries to 1922-23). [2]

In 1896, hoping to call attention to their plight, Armenian revolutionaries seized the Ottoman Bank in Istanbul. [1]

Armenian civilians are marched to a nearby prison in Mezireh by armed Turkish soldiers. [3]

Armenians all over the world commemorate this great tragedy on April 24, because it was on that day in 1915 when 300 Armenian leaders, writers, thinkers and professionals in Constantinople (present day Istanbul) were rounded up, deported and killed. [2]

The colonialist superpowers wishing to eradicate the Ottoman Empire from the world by dividing it did not fail to use in their schemes also the Armenians who coexisted in peace with the Turks for so many centuries. [4]

Murder and expulsion of Turkish Armenians by the Ottoman Empire under Abd?lhamid II in 1894 - 96 and by the Young Turk government in 1915 - 16. [1]

The Turkish government today denies that there was an Armenian genocide and claims that Armenians were only removed from the eastern “war zone.” [2]

Kharpert, Western Armenia, Ottoman Empire in April 1915. [3]

This book is a detailed account of the horrible massacres organized by Turkish authorities with the mass participation of the Turkish population of the Adana district. [5]

In response to Russia’s use of Armenian troops against the Ottomans in World War I (1914 - 18), the government deported 1.75 million Armenians south to Syria and Mesopotamia, in the course of which some 600,000 Armenians were killed or died of starvation. [...] For more information on Armenian massacres, visit Britannica.com. [1]

As a bridge between Asia and Europe, with its straits connecting The Black Sea with the Mediterranean and its geopolitical situation at a point where the Central Asian, Caucasian and Middle Eastern natural energy sources intersect, Turkey draws the attention of the entire world. [4]

The Armenian Genocide was masterminded by the Central Committee of the Young Turk Party (Committee for Union and Progress [Ittihad ve Terakki Cemiyet, in Turkish]) which was dominated by Mehmed Tal?t [Pasha], Ismail Enver [Pasha], and Ahmed Djemal [Pasha]. [2]

Though there were many Armenians fighting in the Ottoman armies against the enemy or serving in the rear ranks during the World War I, a considerable number had sided with the foes on the battlefronts and launched massacres against the population without distinction of women, children and the aged.
