laodicean

The Laodicean Church was a Christian community established in the ancient city of Laodicea (on the river Lycus, in the Roman province of Asia Minor). [1]

The Laodicean Church became predominant towards the end of the twentieth century. [2]

We are indeed finally in the “Laodicean Age ” of the church, the final Church Age of Great Apostasy. [3]

“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. [...] But then so are most so-called Christians — the lost goats and the saved sheep both asleep together. [3]

… some scholars have suggested that this metaphor has been drawn from the water supply of the city, which was lukewarm, in contrast to the hot springs at nearby Hierapolis and the pure water of Colossae (Barclay). [1]

Laodicea is the seventh of the seven churches listed in the Book of Revelation. [2]

In writing to the Colossians, Paul sends greetings through them to a Laodicean named Nympha(s) and the church at his (or perhaps her) house (Col 4.15). [1]

There are several differences in the statements to the church of the Laodiceans that do not seem to be included in the messages to the other churches. [2]
