you oughta know

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

“You Oughta Know” is a song written by Alanis Morissette and Glen Ballard, and produced by Ballard for Morissette’s third album Jagged Little Pill (1995). [1]

And I’m here to remind you Of the mess you left when you went away It’s not fair to deny me Of the cross I bear that you gave to me You, you, you oughta know. [2]

I really like that song, I think it’s about Alanis breakin’ up with her ex-boyfriend Full House star Dave Coulier, I could shout “You, you, you oughta know”, It’s really a break-up song. [3]

Sold by Amazon Digital Services, Inc. [4]

Watch out for the line “Of the cross I bear that you gave to me “, sounds distinctly like ‘Of the cross-eyed bear that you gave to me’. [3]

The song reached number one on Billboard magazine’s Modern Rock Tracks chart in the U.S. and charted at number four in Australia and number twenty-two in the United Kingdom. [1]

I’d have to agree with you on the swearing….If it weren’t there I don’t think we would really see how angry she was. [2]

The song, the lyrics of which are rumored to describe Morissette’s fouled relationship with Dave Coulier of Full House, introduced her harsh, angst-ridden lyrics to the public. [1]

It gave empathesis on how mad she was. [2]

american idiot musical

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

A new musical production adapted from “American Idiot,” the best-selling album by the punk band Green Day, is scheduled to make its debut in September at the Berkeley Repertory Theater in California. [1]

Green Day won two Grammys for its multi-platinum album American Idiot, which sold more than 12 million copies worldwide. [2]

American Idiot is the seventh studio album by the American punk rock band Green Day. [3]

Good news Green Day fans: Not only are the boys finishing up their new album, 21st Century Breakdown, for release on May 15, but they’re also prepping another major project: a theatrical production based on their 2004 concept album American Idiot! [4]

Producers of the show — playing at Berkeley Repertory through Sunday — have put out a casting notice in New York, and promoters said that “American Idiot” is indeed coming to Broadway, according to Playbill. [5]

There probably hasn’t been a true rock opera produced for the stage since “The Who’s Tommy” — “Rent” and “Spring Awakening ” come from more pop traditions in our book and basically amount to musical theater scores with electric guitar on top — but Green Day’s “American Idiot,” which just had its world premiere at Berkeley Rep, definitely qualifies. [6]

The American Idiot musical will premiere September 4th at California’s Berkeley Repertory Theatre and run through October 11th. [7]

Admittance is only guaranteed with tickets purchased through Berkeley Rep. Tickets purchased through brokers or other third party sales could be fraudulent. [2]

Tony award-winning director Michael Mayer will helm the musical version of the acclaimed album, set to open at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in September, the New York Times reports. [...] A stage adaptation of the 2004 Green Day album American Idiot will premiere this autumn in California, it has been announced. [8]

Rock music has been an inspiration for Broadway-style musicals recently: U2 are working on music for a Spider-Man stage play, and Michael Jackson’s Thriller will hit Broadway as a full-on musical. [7]

Never has the Roda appeared more expansive yet bursting with images and action…The rock opera that opened Wednesday, in a world premiere with Broadway aspirations written all over it, packs plenty of excitement and entertainment into a remarkably theatrical rock concert…The lyrics are crystal clear as well. [2]

The musical is a collaboration between Green Day ‘ the Bay Area rock trio consisting of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool ‘ and Michael Mayer, the Tony Award -winning director of “Spring Awakening.” [...] The band Green Day: from left, Tre Cool, Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt. [1]

American Idiot debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart and raised the bar for modern rock `n’ roll. [2]
