dui checkpoints

Valley’s young drivers use technology to avoid DUI checkpoints A driver suspected of driving under the influence is led away in handcuffs Wednesday after taking a blood test at a sobriety checkpoint. [1]

I always felt DUI checkpoints were unconstitutional. [2]

The argument has been made that DUI checkpoints are an infringement of the Fourth Amendment, which protects us against unreasonable search and seizure. [3]

PHOENIX — Police say more motorists trying to elude arrest for drunken driving are using social media sites like Twitter and Facebook to alert other drivers about DUI checkpoints. [4]

Dave Gibeault, head of the Fresno Police Department’s traffic unit. [2]

Dave Gibeault, head of the Fresno Police Department’s traffic unit. [...] Trying to elude arrest for drunken driving, young people use technology to keep each other informed about the location of sobriety checkpoints, said Sgt. [5]

Last year during the 2008 holiday period, Avoid reported that there were 827 DUI arrests in Santa Clara County alone. [3]

In addition to the more than 50 Sacramento police officers who will be handling crowd control, parking, traffic and other issues downtown tonight, there will be at least four officers looking for drunken drivers. [6]

The grants will go to the Fresno Police Department and the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office to arrest and charge drunken drivers next year. [1]

On Twitter, a free electronic message service that runs on both cell phones and computers, drivers can warn each other with “tweets” listing intersections where police have set up checkpoints. [5]

The Police Department’s traffic safety unit will use its $482,000 grant to pay for 100 sobriety checkpoints, bar stakeouts and court stings — in which undercover officers make sure offenders who have lost licenses do not drive away from court hearings. [1]

It is not your imagination there actually are more law enforcement officers on the roads during the holiday season and therefore there’s a greater likelihood that you could be arrested for DUI. [3]

There will also be a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint downtown, but police are not yet disclosing the location. [6]

Tools include Twitter, text messages and an iPhone application specifically designed to identify checkpoints, Gibeault said. [5]

Inger Stevens (October 18, 1934 ‘ April 30, 1970) was a Swedish-American movie and TV actress. [1]

At age 16, Inger Stevens broke into show business in a Kansas City burlesque show. [2]

… this decision would have far-reaching consequences: Inger Stevens, whose public image was the self-sufficient, refreshingly frank and direct, up-and-coming single actress, had suddenly acquired a career-threatening secret, a double-life, one that she had to hide from the inquisitive general public. [3]

Inger Stevens was born Oct. 18, 1933, in Stockholm, Sweden. [4]

Visitors should keep in mind that while many of the key events of her life have been substantiated, Inger herself in later interviews would often exaggerate and/or minimize other details and events, sometimes tongue-in-cheek, other times in the best interest of her public persona. [...] Nevertheless, her recovery from this incident was surprising: only two months later she was back at work, guest starring on several television series. [3]

From 1961 to her death, she was secretly married to Ike Jones, a black American actor. [...] Simultaneously, she took classes at the Actors Studio. [1]

Aside from her making her film debut in the film, Inger made more Hollywood headlines when she and Crosby began dating; however, the relationship ended when Crosby married actress Katherine Grant instead. [3]

Her parents separated and she came to the United States to live with her father when she was 13. [4]

There are a number of websites that have short biographical essays about Inger’s life that can be readily found on the internet: Wikipedia, the Internet Movie Database, and Find A Grave are but a few. [3]

Following her death, it came out in the tabloids that she had been secretly married to African-American Ike Jones since 1961. [5]

At age 13, she and her father moved to Manhattan, Kansas, where she attended Manhattan High School (Kansas). [1]

After her death at age 36, it was later revealed that she had been secretly married since 1961 to black musician Isaac (Ike) Jones. [...] She moved to New York at age 18, working in the garment center and as a chorus girl while studying theater at the Actors Studio and making the rounds of Broadway agents. [2]

Kevin Pearce is a member of the U.S. Olympic team at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. [1]

Though he’s still only 22, Kevin Pearce has already lived a storied snowboarding life… Not only did the Vermont native receive his first snowboard from Jake Burton, but he’s the rare halfpipe rider who can boast of victory over Shaun White… Pearce is also a member of the FRENDS crew, a group of snowboarders that shuns individual acclaim (hence the missing “i” in “friends”). [2]

Besides landing just about everything, everywhere (including a 1260 at the Air and Style), the Norwich, VT native stacked some serious cash with a win at the Burton European Open pipe and the Arctic Challenge quarterpipe, as well as a 3rd at the U.S. Open pipe. [3]
