CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Wachovia Corporation (NYSE: WB) has re-invented its personal Free Checking account to better meet consumer needs. [1]

I received an email from my bank, Wachovia, noting that my Visa Extras account had been converted to a Wachovia Possiblities Rewards account. [...] Well, apparently, individual banking institutions have started to use the Visa Extras interface to create their own debit card bonus rewards websites. [2]

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Wachovia’s retail Check Card holders can now earn points when they use their Visa Check Card by enrolling in the Visa Extras rewards program. [3]

Wachovia (NYSE: WB) is the second-largest commercial lender in Greater Baltimore in ranks No. 2 on the Baltimore Business Journal’s list of largest depository institutions. [4]

While Citibank’s program is open to any customer in the U.S. or Puerto Rico with a checking account and accompanying debit card, Wachovia’s program is aimed at affluent households. [...] Wachovia’s rewards points are based on a customer’s balance level across a number of products and services. [5]

He anticipates Wachovia’s rewards program to start before this year’s holiday shopping season. [4]

Wachovia Corp., following the lead of a few other banks, plans to roll out a loyalty program where customers can rack up points and earn rewards for using its services. [...] The bank has been testing the program, called “Honors,” at 150 branches in New York, southern Connecticut and northern New Jersey since March. [5]

Wachovia also announced Nov. 1 that it would begin offering Free Online BillPay with its Free Checking account. [1]

Wachovia Securities, the trade name formerly used for Wachovia Securities, LLC and Wachovia Securities Financial Network, LLC, is now Wells Fargo Advisors. [6]

“In the past, many customers have enjoyed rewards for their credit card purchases,” said Jeanine Tabaczynski, director of Access Services for Wachovia. [3]

Now if you’re a rewards junkie like me, you might worry that you may not be able to continue getting the rewards you want toward merchandise, travel and the like. [7]
