Picking up where Shrek the Third left off, this animated, original, half-hour special finds Shrek (Mike Meyers) doing his best to get into the Christmas spirit. [5]

Shrek tries to give Fiona a great Christmas, but Donkey and the gang destroy it. [6]

The thirty minute Christmas special included the following: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas reprising their roles from the feature films. [1]

Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and Antonio Banderas lend their voices to this holly-bedecked continuation of the SHREK saga. [3]

Donkey: You go and have yourself a merry Christmas, Ebeneezer Shrek! [4]

His noble efforts are soon complicated, however, when Christmas arrives and old friends Donkey (Eddie Murphy), Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas), Gingy (Conrad Vernon) and the rest of the gang decide to drop in for a surprise visit. [5]

Shrek proceeds to follow the book’s advice by decorating the house and getting a tree so he can spend a quiet Christmas Eve with his family, but Donkey brings the entire “family” to the swamp, ruining Shrek’s plans. [1]

It’s Christmas Eve and everyone is filled with holiday cheer-except for Shrek. [2]

My kids love shrek, and this is a great Christmas movie for the family. [...] So he starts at the local bookstore, where a winsome clerk (voiced by Marissa Jaret Winokur) quickly sizes up Shrek’s hapless situation and pronounces: “I know all about Christmas, and I have just the book for you: ‘Christmas for Village Idiots.’” Shrek becomes so focused on doing the holiday “by the book” that he fails to notice the magic and comradely chaos unfolding all around him. [7]

It’s the night before Christmas and the jolly green ogre is trying to make it the best holiday ever. [3]

national lampoon s christmas vacation

Monday, November 30th, 2009

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation was still capable of attracting an audience five years after its release: It was one of the top-rated seasonal TV specials of 1994, outrating even the first network telecast of It’s a Wonderful Life. [1]

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a 1989 Christmas comedy film directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik. [2]

The Griswold family is set to celebrate the holidays like never before, in.National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,’ directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik and written by John Hughes. [3]

Clark: No, Aunt Bethany, those are the Christmas lights. [4]

Amidst the more outrageous sight gags (including the electrocution of a cat as the Christmas tree is lit) the film betrays a sentimental streak, with old wounds healing and long-estranged relatives reuniting in the Griswold living room. [1]

Eddie: Naw, I’m doing just fine, Clark. [4]

Chase is right at home with the outrageous slapstick and often cheerfully tasteless humor, and John Hughes’s script is stuffed full of classic Christmas movie references, but Randy Quaid practically steals the film as the unemployed relative with his malicious grin and mooching lifestyle. [5]

When Cousin Eddie joined Clark Griswold and his family for National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, the movie quickly becaume a holiday institution. [6]

After aggravating nearby motorists, getting stuck under a big rig, and walking in the woods for a long time, Clark finally finds said tree. [2]

Chevy Chase, star of National Lampoon’s Vacation and its sequel, is back as the paterfamilias of the Griswold family (including Beverly D’Angelo as his missus) to skewer the Yuletide season. [1]

The title song of the same name was written for the movie by the husband-wife song writing team of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, performed by Mavis Staples. [2]

The Griswold family’s plans for a big family Christmas predictably turn into a big disaster. [3]

Disaster-prone dad (Chevy Chase) discovers just how dangerous the Christmas season really is, as the Griswolds’ old-fashioned holiday celebration turns out to be more “Bah! [5]

Rusty Griswold: Dad, I think you mean burn rubber and eat my dust. [4]

kiki vandeweghe

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Success has followed Nuggets General Manager Kiki Vandeweghe at every stop along his illustrious career. [1]

Kiki Vandeweghe, right, talks about his new position as general manager of the Denver Nuggets during a news conference in Denver on Thursday. [2]

Kiki Vandeweghe, former GM of the Nuggets, uses his past experience in Denver to cope with Nets’ tough season. [3]

Vandeweghe, 45, is in his fourth season as general manager of the Nuggets after being named to the post on Aug. 9, 2001. [1]

Vandeweghe is the son of former NBA player Ernie Vandeweghe and Colleen Kay Hutchins, the winner of the 1952 Miss America pageant. [4]

His club also became the first in the history of the NBA to go from less than 20 wins to the playoffs the next year (since going to an 82-game schedule in 1976). [5]

SACRAMENTO - The Denver Nuggets were coming off a 27-win season when Kiki Vandeweghe took over as their general manager in the summer of 2002. [3]

Among the moves he made to improve the Nuggets were drafting Carmelo Anthony, acquiring Marcus Camby and hiring head coach George Karl. [...] Vandeweghe, a former pro forward, spent the 2006-07 NBA season as a basketball analyst for ESPN before joining New Jersey last Dec. 31. [6]

He also is the current general manager of the New Jersey Nets and former General Manager of the Denver Nuggets. [4]

He got his wish, and was traded to the Nuggets on December 3 of that same year. [7]

Prior to joining the Nets, Vandeweghe served as general manager of the Denver Nuggets from 2001-2006, where he oversaw all aspects of basketball operations for the team. [5]

His offensive repertoire was essentially limited to a single move, the jab step, but he was so proficient at this lone move that it was often referred to as the “Kiki Move” toward the end of his career. [7]

The Nets play the Kings Friday and if they lose they can tie the NBA mark of 17 straight defeats to start a season on Sunday night against the Lakers in Los Angeles. [...] Though he has no NBA head coaching experience, Vandeweghe would make sense for the cost-conscious Nets because he is already on the payroll and the former All-Star forward is also known for his ability to school young players.
