Last season, Taggart was at the helm of the Cardinal running game that finished second in the Pac-10 Conference in rushing offense, averaging 199.6 yards a game on the ground. [3]

Taggart was a wiry state champion quarterback from Manatee High who possessed a winning attitude and exuded confidence on the field. [4]

Taggart, a four-year starter, ran for 1,313 yards and ranked among the nation’s leaders in both rushing and scoring (92 points ‘ he is also Western’s career scoring leader). The inductees will also be honored in ceremonies on Jimmy Feix Field at halftime of the annual Homecoming Football Game, set to kickoff at 4 p.m. [2]

HS/Misc: Came to Western from Central Hardin High School where he was an honorable mention All-State lineman as senior after earning All-Area honors three straight years… played his prep ball for WKU grad Mike Lewis… big and strong (he benches 325 pounds), he placed fourth in the state in power lifting competition as a senior… an outstanding performer in the classroom, he was an honor roll student each of his four years in high school…active in the CHHS’ Beta Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapters, he was twice named to the school’s Who’s Who list.
