Bad Santa is a 2003 comedy film directed by Terry Zwigoff, produced by Joel and Ethan Coen, and starring Billy Bob Thornton as the title character and Tony Cox as his partner in crime. [2]

Terry Zwigoff ’s fearlessly vulgar Bad Santa produces big laughs from some of the most repulsive behavior ever put on screen. [3]

“By the end of Bad Santa, you may no longer believe in Santa Claus, but you certainly will believe in Billy Bob.” [4]

The film begins in a bar on a December night in Milwaukee, where the viewer is introduced to Willie Stokes (Billy Bob Thornton), a bitter, lonely alcoholic. [2]

Willie T. Stokes (Billy Bob Thornton) is a con man and a thief who teams up with his friend Marcus (Tony Cox), a midget, for a very special scam each year during the holiday season. [3]

This holiday season the traditional Christmas tale will never be the same with the cleverly twisted, merrily irreverent story of a Santa so bad he’s wickedly funny. [5]

Willie gets a job as Santa Claus at a shopping mall, his pal tags along as an elf, and they use their employee status to crack mall security and rob stores blind just before Christmas. [3]

Willie T. Stokes is a washed-up, wise-cracking Department Store Santa who can’t help but be more naughty than nice. [4]

Inspired by a mix of movie classics including the outrageous one-liners and outcasts of “The Bad News Bears” and the riotous impertinence of “South Park,” with a dash of the holiday spirit of “A Christmas Carol,” albeit one that would make Dickens wince, BAD SANTA is a Christmas comedy unlike any other. [5]

A miserable conman and his partner pose as Santa and his Little Helper to rob department stores on Christmas Eve. [1]

Laughing riotously all the way, the film skewers such classic holiday traditions as rampant commercialism, smart-mouthed mall rugrats and Santa’s saintly image. [5]

Every Christmas Eve, the two of them disable the security alarm after the mall closes and rob the mall safe; afterwards, Marcus returns to living with his wife (who Willie finds very ugly and annoying), Lois (Lauren Tom), while Willie goes to Miami and spends all his money on booze. [2]

Continuity: When Willie returns to the house with the stuffed elephant and is being chased by the cops, the bags of sand with the candles in them on the sidewalks are no longer present (he had just put them out before going to the mall). [1]

He then gets a low-grade report card (all Cs, with the exception of one B), hoping to make Willie happy (from this, Willie learns the Kid’s name: Thurman Merman). [2]

fall back

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

The clock moves ahead (thus, losing one hour) when DST starts, typically in the spring, and falls back one hour (thus, gaining one hour) when DST ends in the fall. [1]

The American English mnemonic “spring forward, fall back” (also “spring ahead…”, “spring up…”, and “… fall behind”) helps people remember which direction to shift clocks. [2]

The phrase “Spring forward, fall back” helps people remember how Daylight Saving Time affects their clocks. [3]

Here, you can learn about the history of daylight saving (or as some may say, daylight shifting), the standardization of time, and when regions around the globe spring ahead and fall back. [4]

Daylight Saving Time has been in use throughout much of the United States, Canada and Europe since World War I. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed an act into law whereby Daylight Saving Time begins on the last Sunday of April and ends on the last Sunday of October each year. [5]

But Daylight Saving Time (and not Daylight Savings Time with an “s”) wasn’t just created to confuse our schedules. [3]

Daylight saving time in most of the United States ends at 2 a.m., local time, on Sunday, November 1. [6]

Most of Australia started Daylight Saving Time on October 04, 2009. [7]

Daylight Saving Time gives us the opportunity to enjoy sunny summer evenings by moving our clocks an hour forward in the spring. [4]

The federal law first passed in 1918 and, thanks to a 2005 revision that went into practice in 2007, now stipulates areas that observe daylight saving time must switch back to standard time at 2 a.m. [6]

Europe and Russia ended Summer Time on October 25, 2009. [7]

Summer Time (Daylight Saving) Begins at 1 a.m. [5]

In this ancient water clock, a series of gears rotated a cylinder to display hour lengths appropriate for each day’s date. [2]

Daylight Saving Time (or summertime as it is called in many countries) is a way of getting more light out of the day by advancing clocks by one hour during the summer. [1]

batman forever

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Batman Forever is a 1995 superhero film directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Tim Burton. [1]

Batman Forever is the third of the Batman movies which began with Tim Burton ’s 1989 version of the character, although it is a major departure from its predecessor in the franchise, Batman Returns. [2]

Loud, excessively busy, and often boring, Batman Forever nonetheless has the charisma of Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones to offer mild relief. [3]

Director Joel Schumacher inherited the Batman franchise from Tim Burton and began steering it in the campier direction of the Sixties television show with this third installment. [5]

Dick declares his intention to kill Two-Face and avenge his family’s murder, and when he discovers Bruce’s secret identity as Batman, he insists on becoming his sidekick, “Robin “. [1]

First-time Batman/Bruce Wayne (Val Kilmer), in his only outing as the Caped Crusader, is effectively brooding as he ponders strange dreams about his parents’ death and escapes his own near-demise at the hands of Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones), a former district attorney driven insane and turned into a master criminal when a gangster throws acid in his face. [5]

This is a film not designed to be the best piece of pop art it can possibly be, but calculated to draw the widest possible demographics in order to please WB’s merchandising partners. [3]

The movie opens as Two-Face, the alter ego of former DA Harvey Dent, (Tommy Lee Jones) is holding hostages in a bank vault. [2]

The plot focuses on Batman trying to stop Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones) and the Riddler (Jim Carrey) in their villainous scheme to drain information from all the brains in Gotham City. [1]

The two villains make a deal: if Two-Face helps him steal enough priceless goods and money to fund his project, the Riddler will use the “Box” (the new name for his invention) to learn Batman’s true identity. [2]

Batman must battle Two-Face and The Riddler with help of an amourous psychologist and a young circus acrobat who becomes his sidekick, Robin. [...] Along the way he finally teams up with sidekick Robin (Chris O’Donnell), makes a hot blonde psychologist (Nicole Kidman) weak in the knees, and tries out a few new (mostly lame) Bat Toys. [4]

… when he asks for a response to his idea, Bruce answers negatively, saying that manipulating brainwaves is out of order and “would raise too many questions”. [2]

First, there’s maniacal ex-DA Harvey Two-Face, so named because half his countenance has been horribly disfigured by acid. [3]
