dj am funeral

Monday, August 31st, 2009

A law enforcement official says the celebrity disc jockey known as DJ AM, real name is Adam Goldstein, has been found dead in a New York City apartment on August 28, 2009. [1]

Goldstein was a deejay for hire who performed at Hollywood ’s most exclusive parties and was admired by music aficionados. [2]

The 36-year-old ex-boyfriend of Nicole Richie, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, was discovered in bed wearing only sweatpants at his $2 million SoHo pad, sources said. [3]

The mercurial and tragic 36-year-old, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, had died of an apparent drug overdose. [4]

Whether buying into an Atlantic City nightclub or throwing the first pitch at a Phillies-Mets game or spinning and mixing records for celebrity friends and fans, all Adam Goldstein - DJ AM - was trying to do after surviving a horrendous 2008 airplane crash was live his life and stay clean. [5]

Goldstein’s death comes less than a year after he barely survived a plane crash with buddy and musical collaborator Travis Barker, the former drummer for Blink-182. [...] Celebrity spinner DJ AM was found dead inside his Manhattan apartment Friday night - a crack pipe and several pill bottles nearby, police sources said. [3]

Goldstein was critically injured last September when a Learjet crashed on takeoff in Columbia, S.C. The plane was transporting Goldstein and Barker, a drummer for the pop punk band Blink-182, after a performance; the pair had formed the duo TRVSDJ-AM. [6]

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of DJ AM, who was a tremendous talent, a trusted partner and friend to ‘DJ Hero,”‘ said Tim Riley, vice president of music affairs for Activision. [1]

Hmm now thats odd, someone attached to Hip-Hop (Rap) found dead, and drugs were involved. [2]

Investigators found a glass pipe in his bedroom and at least seven bottles of prescription drugs on his kitchen counter, including the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, sources said. [3]

Mostly, though, DJ AM had worked hard to stay off the drugs that he had struggled with nearly a decade before. [5]

Goldstein was going to star in an intervention-style reality show on MTV called “Gone Too Far,” helping teens kick their drug addictions while talking about his own battles with substance abuse. [4]

DJ AM, the sought-after disc jockey who became a celebrity in his own right with high-profile romances and a glamorous lifestyle and survived a plane crash just months ago, was found dead Friday at his apartment. [6]

A close friend of DJ AM was so worried when the spinner didn’t show up for a flight or answer his cell phone that he sped to the star’s Manhattan pad - and discovered he was dead, a police source said Saturday. [4]

Born in Amarillo, TX, singer/songwriter John Rich had his first taste of success in Nashville as the lead singer for Lonestar. [1]

Born in Amarillo, TX, singer/songwriter John Rich had his first taste of success in Nashville as the lead singer for Lonestar. [2]

John Rich shows Sisqo, Julio Iglesias, Dee Snider and others how to go country! [3]

The medical needs of his primary musical partner gave country music star John Rich an opening to record his second solo album. [2]

Meanwhile, Big Kenny had recorded his own solo album, Live a Little, only to see it suffer the same fate as Underneath the Same Moon. [...] With no solo album to support, the two songwriters funneled their energies into Big & Rich, which became a popular country duo during the 2000s. [1]

After Big & Rich went on hiatus in 2007, Rich began work on a second solo album, Son of a Preacher Man, which has produced two more chart singles. [...] John Rich (born January 7, 1974 in Amarillo, Texas) is an American country music artist. [4]

The song is a fitting kickoff to Son of a Preacher Man, an album that finds country music’s Renaissance Everyman giving full rein to his own creative voice in a project as personal as it is musically arresting. [...] He is a three-time ASCAP Songwriter of the Year with 13 top ten hits, including Faith Hill’s ‘Mississippi Girl,’ Faith and Tim McGraw’s ‘Like We Never Loved At All,’ Jason Aldean’s ‘Hicktown’ and Taylor Swift’s ‘The Way I Loved You’; a sought-after producer who has worked with legends like Randy Owen and John Anderson, pop stars like Jewel and a host of new artists; a TV star, host and ringmaster who has shepherded CMT’s Gone Country from interesting idea to well-established franchise; a proven talent scout who helped Gretchen Wilson move from singing bartender to cultural phenomenon; and an accomplished performer who was an integral part of the early Lonestar sound, then half of Big & Rich, whose bigger-than-life personas spearheaded the Muzik Mafia and launched a bona fide country movement. [...] He played the song live at stations he was visiting as part of a radio tour, and the reaction was so strong he rerouted the tour into Nashville on a Friday night, recorded the song on Saturday, and hit the road again with the CD. [5]

After being fired from the band Lonestar in 1998, Rich embarked on a solo career on BNA Records in the late 1990s, releasing two singles for the label and recording Underneath the Same Moon, which was not released until 2006. [...] The song, “Another You”, is the lead-off single to Rich’s second studio album, Son of a Preacher Man, which was released on March 24, 2009. [4]

The resulting Underneath the Same Moon — which featured collaborations with Sara Evans, the Fairfield Four, and Delbert McClinton, as well as his future songwriting partner from Big & Rich, Kenny Alphin (aka Big Kenny) — was finished and unfortunately shelved in 1998. [...] Meanwhile, he found time to further his solo career with Son of a Preacher Man, which marked his second solo record upon its release in early 2009. [1]

jake owen

Monday, August 31st, 2009

When plans for a career as a professional golfer were derailed by injury, country singer/songwriter Jake Owen picked up a guitar and never looked back. [1]

Jake Owen was raised in Vero Beach, Fla., and grew up with a passion for sports. [...] He formed a band called Yee Haw Junction and started putting original songs in his set of country covers. [2]

This album produced three singles (”Yee Haw “, “Startin’ with Me ” and “Something About a Woman “), all of which reached Top 20 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. [3]

Partly inspired by his father’s devotion to his mother over the years, “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” is just the first of several songs written specifically about romantic relationships. [4]

?2008 Country Music Television, Inc., a Viacom company. [5]

It’s served as a valuable piece of advice in the last few years as he’s made the transition from a country newcomer with an infectious first single called “Yee Haw” to a bona fide star with a handful of hits under his belt and an ever-growing and loyal fan base. [4]

He constantly wrote songs in his Bellevue apartment, and a chance lunch meeting had producer Jimmy Ritchey (Clay Walker, Mark Chesnutt) befriending the young musician. [...] Eventually, his friendship with Ritchey led to a meeting with Sony/BMG Nashville and resulted in a record contract for the determined 24-year-old, who already had his album basically finished. [...] His debut, Startin’ with Me, appeared in summer 2006 on RCA, spearheaded by the single “Yee Haw.” [1]

When he enrolled at Florida State University (along with fraternal twin Jarrod), Owen became a walk-on member of the golf team, but a serious waterskiing accident quickly ended his professional golf aspirations. [2]

Joshua Ryan “Jake” Owen (born August 28, 1981 in Vero Beach, Florida) is a Grammy -Award nominated American country music artist. [...] The lead-off single to the album, “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You ” became his first Top 5 country hit, reaching #2 on the Hot Country Songs chart in April 2009. [3]

Some young artists might buckle under the kind of pressure and distractions that comes with country stardom, but Jake’s sophomore album, Easy Does It, indicates he’s taking Waylon’s words to heart. [4]

Owen has also toured as an opening act for several country acts, including Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Little Big Town and Sugarland. [3]
