r. lee ermey

Though Ermey never again quite matched the intensity of this role (or the gutter-bucket poetic invention of its obscene dialogue), it was enough to give him permanent recognition as a character actor among filmgoers, and to typecast him in a series of variants on that role, again and again, throughout his life. [1]

He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant, and later was bestowed the honorary rank of Gunnery Sergeant by the Marine Corps, after he served 14 months in Vietnam and later did 2 tours in Okinawa, Japan. [2]

Born on March 24, 1944, in Emporia, KS, Ermey enlisted in the armed forces as a young man and hightailed it to Vietnam on a non-commissioned basis, but injuries forced him to retire from active duty. [4]

… his most famous (or infamous) role came as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Stanley Kubrick ’s Full Metal Jacket (1987), for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe. [2]

A few character actors make such an indelible impression with one role that they find it consistently impossible to outgrow that image. [1]

A talented character actor known for his military roles, R. Lee Ermey was in the US Marine Corps for 11 years. [2]

After a comic turn as yet another tough-nosed authority figure, Captain Nichols, in the 2005 Tommy Lee Jones vehicle Man of the House, Ermey reprised the Hoyt role for the sequel to the Chainsaw remake, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006). [...] In 1995, Ermey spoofed himself to great effect as the voice of the leader of the little green soldiers in Toy Story, and doubled it up with a turn as the vengeful father of a homicide victim in Tim Robbins’ capital punishment drama Dead Man Walking. [4]

Dress Blues Ermey is packed in a full color box that features the Marine Instructor’s Creed, Ermey’s biography and filmography, and a ‘try me’ feature. [3]

13 GHOSTS, Steve Beck’s feature debut, is the second recent remake (following THE HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL) of a film by 1950s and 60s camp horror king, William Castle. [3]

Thirteen Ghosts (also known as Thir13en Ghosts or 13 Ghosts) is a 2001 horror film directed by Steve Beck. [4]

13 Ghosts (1960) horror film directed by William Castle and written by Robb White. [5]

Nothing, that is, until out of nowhere Arthur inherits an unusual house from his mysterious, eccentric Uncle Cyrus (F. [6]

Gimmick-loving producer William Castle strikes again with this fun haunted-house thriller which invited audiences to find the hidden ghosts roaming about a haunted house through a special process called “Illusion-O” by which patrons could employ a special pair of red-and-blue-colored glasses to detect ghosts on the screen during the film’s color-tinted sequences. [7]

This haunted house chiller is the second feature from Dark Castle Entertainment, the mid-budget outfit put together in 1999 to remake the cheesy horror genre pictures of William Castle by his daughter, Terry Castle, and producers Gilbert Adler, Robert Zemeckis, and Joel Silver. [8]

It follows the remake of another one of Castle’s films, House on Haunted Hill. [4]

Financially ravaged and widowed by a fire that is consuming him with guilt, Arthur Kriticos (Tony Shalhoub) is left to raise two kids on his own: beautiful teenager Kathy (Shannon Elizabeth) and grade school student Bobby (Alec Roberts). [8]

When occultist uncle Dr. Plato Zorba wills a huge ramshackle house to his nephew Cyrus and his impoverished family, they are shocked to find the house is haunted. [5]

As with most of his productions, Castle used a gimmick to promote the movie. [7]

The production design is first rate, but 13 Ghosts is distinctly lacking in scares. [3]

It is a remake of the 1960 film of the same name by William Castle. [...] Arthur (Tony Shalhoub), Cyrus’ nephew, a mathematics teacher whose wife, Jean, died in a house fire six months earlier, later discovers that his uncle has left his mansion to Arthur in his will delivered by Cyrus’ lawyer, Benjamin Moss (JR Bourne). cash for clunkers requirements

Friday, July 31st, 2009

This is a government program that helps you purchase a new, more fuel efficient vehicle when you trade in a less fuel efficient vehicle. [1]

Recently, the U.S. Government passed legislation providing vouchers valued from $3,500 to $4,500 when you trade-in a vehicle and purchase a new one that meets or exceeds higher MPG standards. [2]

Cash for Clunkers is a newly available part of the Obama stimulus package that will put up to $5000 in your pocket when you trade in your vehicle for a more fuel efficient new car. [3]

Under the CARS program, also called the “cash for clunkers” bill, your older car may qualify for a vehicle voucher worth thousands of dollars on a more fuel-efficient new car. [4]

If you have a 1984 through 1988 model year vehicle, visit the EPA’s fuel economy website, FuelEconomy.gov, to determine the vehicle’s combined fuel economy rating. [5]

A: The plan offers vouchers of up to $4,500 when buyers trade older vehicles that have an official miles-per-gallon (MPG) figure from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) below a specific number (18 MPG for passenger cars and small light-duty trucks). [4]

President Obama will sign into law a program NHTSA is calling the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS). [1]

The Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) was signed into law by President Obama on June 26. [4]

Kelley Blue Book used car values extend back 20 model years, but the federally funded Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) provides eligibility for vehicles manufactured up to 25 years prior to trade-in date. [5]

A: The Car Allowance Rebate System is a new program from the government that will help you pay for a new, more fuel efficient car or truck from a participating dealer when you trade in a less fuel efficient car or truck. [1]

… engineers are able to focus on quicker fixes such as using lightweight wheels, subtle engine tuning, and changing option packages to reduce weight. [6]

In the meantime, please feel free to contact your local GM dealer to inquire about their planned participation in CARS. [2]

If it’s rated at 18 mpg or less and meets the other preliminary eligibility requirements, there’s a good chance it will qualify. [5]

If you are ready to scrap and recycle your vehicle, use the tools on this page to calculate an estimated CARS voucher value and learn more about a new GM vehicle. [2]

Note that work trucks (i.e., very large pickup trucks and cargo vans) have different requirements. [3]
