James Addison Reavis (1843-1914), the self-styled Baron of Arizona, was an impostor on a grand scale who claimed to own much of Arizona in the late 19th century. [1]

Reavis became disillusioned with the Confederate Army and soon recognized the fact they were losing the war. [...] James Addison Reavis claimed all mineral wealth within his land grant territory, and this included the Superstition Mountain area. [2]
