In Seattle two decades later, a local “chapter” of Friends Stand United (FSU) is gaining a reputation for beatings and intimidating behavior and is being blamed for driving a violent wedge into the city’s hardcore music scene, a subculture that’s existed here for years. [1]
Travis Daniel Westly and Richard James Dugan are members of a street gang called the FSU Gang, which is short for the Friends Stand United Street Gang. [2]

In Boston he began singing for hardcore punk band Wrecking Crew and befriended a group of kids from the tough Boston area communities Brockton and South Boston. [6]
If a dozen young black men showed up to a local hiphop show threatening fans, performers, and promoters with violence, it’d easily make front-page news. [5]
Elgin discovered punk rock through an older foster brother and saw shows of seminal hardcore bands Black Flag, Agnostic Front and Millions of Dead Cops. [6]
FSU Gang Members in particular are into the Punk Rock scene, and mainly yuppie type middle class Punk Rock teenagers blame them for making the music look bad because of their excessive violence at Punk Rock Concerts. [2]
The band, which plays a song that apparently likens FSU to neo-Nazi skinheads, opted not to play after receiving what band members and show promoters interpreted as threats of violence from local FSU members, several people close to the hardcore scene said. [1]
Elgin James, also known as Elgin Nathan James, helped form the controversial street gang FSU in the early 1990s. [6]
