camp freddy

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

From their 2002 inception, Camp Freddy were neither a full-time band nor a jam session, falling somewhere in that middle ground where friends simply came occasionally together to play music (namely cover songs) for the sheer fun of playing rock & roll. [1]

Camp Freddy is a group of established musicians who play rock and roll covers at various shows around America. [2]

Camp Freddy is the musical equivalent of The Super Friends or The Justice League. [3]

Guitarist Billy Morrison describes them as: “…not a band, but it is also way more than a jam session. [...] The band is composed of core members Dave Navarro (guitar), Billy Morrison (guitar), Matt Sorum (drums), Donovan Leitch, Jr. (vocals) and Chris Chaney (bass). [2]

In fact, the dressing room scene before the band takes the stage could very well be cut right from a Grammy party. [...] Each show has brought out rock’s cream of the crop in terms of “Super Friends,” from Slash and Steve Jones of The Sex Pistols to Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour. [...] Dave Navarro sits shirtless on a leather couch, relaxing before the show. [3]

CAMP FREDDY, whose name was derived from a character in the classic Michael Caine movie, ‘The Italian Job’ formerly hosted a radio show on L.A.’s hottest new radio station INDIE 103.1FM. [...] Surprise guests, lounge singers turned heavy rock superstars, some of the world’s greatest guitarists playing three chord punk tunes. [4]

Deriving their name from a character in the Michael Caine movie The Italian Job, the band was primarily comprised of guitarist/vocalist Billy Morrison, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Matt Sorum, vocalist Scott Weiland, vocalist Donovan Leitch, and bassist Chris Chaney; they created a pretty impressive musical r?sum? among them, time having been spent with groups like the Cult, Guns N’ Roses, Stone Temple Pilots, Jane’s Addiction, Velvet Revolver, Nancy Boy, Circus Diablo, and the Panic Channel. [1]

Scott Weiland was a core member and vocalist for the band from March 2006 until April 2008, when his decision to leave Velvet Revolver for Stone Temple Pilots caused tension between Matt Sorum and Weiland, leading to his departure from the group being announced on the April 2, 2008 edition of Camp Freddy Radio. [2]

This residency at The Roxy is perfect, because we just come from home and go home. [3]

On Saturday evenings band members - usually Morrison and Navarro - hosted a radio show which took place between the hours of 18:00 and 20:00 PT on the Los Angeles based Indie 103.1 FM radio station. [2]

We play some of the greatest rock and roll songs ever written, have a real laugh doing it, and invite artists that we respect to play them with us. [4]

alex real housewives of new york city

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

For one thing, with Alex came Simon, the only husband whose screen time rivaled the women’s, perhaps because he was the only husband who texted his wife in a panic before a fashion show wondering if he should wear light boots or dark. [1]

Bravo heads to the Big Apple for this spinoff of its hit reality series “The Real Housewives of Orange County.” [2]

It’s hard to believe a reality show could have more drama in real life, but that certainly appears to be the case for the ladies of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York City. [3]

The Real Housewives of New York City is a reality television program on the Bravo network. [4]

The show, ordered up by Bravo in the wake of The Real Housewives of Orange County, was the guiltiest of pleasures, the kind of TV you watch with hand permanently poised over mouth. [1]

Former wife of fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon, Killoren Bensimon is a mother of two, and juggles her love of fashion and business. [4]

brass monkey nyc

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

I stopped into Brass Monkey over the summer and really enjoyed myself. [...] On a weeknight, it’s a giant bar with plenty of room to hang out with whomever you’re with. [1]

“Good selection of beers, friendly bartenders.” [1]

Nightlife News: 4 Stabbed at Promenade - The chaos that occurred this weekend…. [2]

She didn’t know how much to charge for drinks, and wasn’t sure what some of their drinks were. [1]

The selection of beers and mixed drinks are reasonably priced, but the space is so packed it’s impossible to enjoy them. [3]

Stop acting like this place is the hottest thing to hit Manhattan since Milk & Honey, because it’s just an oversized Irish pub so far away from everything else that it’s not even worth it. [1]

The drinks are cheap and strong but the crowd isn’t the type to get the party started. [2]

In a neighborhood of overwhelmingly bougie bars and clubs that make IKEA look small and intimate, the Brass Monkey shines as a beacon of laid back but far from divey good times. [1]

Brass Monkey, typical of most college bars, is crowded, loud, and stuffed with people who all seem to know each other, making mingling difficult for the outsider. [3]

There are no photo galleries for Brass Monkey Athens yet. [2]

The West Villages Brass Monkey, bedecked in warm wood, offers over sixty beers (on tap and in bottles). [3]

Honestly…someone needs to let this place know they are NOT a club…even the clubs in the meatpacking treat people better than this place. [1]
