In the sixties, Eddie and the cruisers was the hottest band around. [1]

In 1983, 20 years after the death of Eddie Wilson, DJ’s around the country have rediscovered ‘Eddie and the Cruisers’ - their classics ‘Tender Years’ ‘On the Dark Side’ and ‘Wild Summer Nights’ have attracted a new generation of fans. [4]

Eddie and the Cruisers is a 1983 American film directed by Martin Davidson with the screenplay written by the director and Arlene Davidson, based on the novel by P. F. Kluge. [...] Only two cast members, Michael “Tunes” Antunes, the tenor saxophone player for John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, and Helen Schneider were professional musicians in the fictional band. [5]
But, when he gets involved in a struggling street band, it’s not long before his passion for music - not to mention his desperate anger - resurfaces, and a decision must be made to determine Eddie’s fate once and for all. [3]
The band actually playing the music is John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, and the actor playing Wendell, the Cruisers’ sax player, is the real-life sax player for them. [6]
This was, hands-down, my favorite movie of the 1980’s - nothing else could compare! [...] They say rock ‘n’ roll never dies, but one dark night in 1963, Eddie Wilson’s car took a dive off aJersey bridge with the troubled rock idol at the wheel. [7]
The film is about a television reporter named Maggie Foley (Ellen Barkin) investigating the mysterious death of musician Eddie Wilson (Michael Par?) and the search for his band’s second album, which disappeared from the vaults of Satin Records the day after Eddie’s alleged death. [5]
Based upon the classic novel by P.F Kluge, Writer/Director Martin Davidson and his sister Arlene Davidson brought the legend of Eddie Wilson and the music of the early 1960’s flooding to our screens. [4]
Despite a poor sound track, there is much more to this film than is obvious within one viewing. [6]
