Driven off the new car lot by its original owner in January of 1990, my 1989 Merkur XR4Ti is one of the very last of its breed. [1]

Steering wheel “twitter” (a slight shake) in the XR4Ti and Scorpio is a condition most often solved by replacing the control arm bushings (Our P/N 05-0119) which Rapido has had especially engineered and designed for this common XR4/Scorpio condition. [4]
Likely you know they weren’t really Merkur’s at all but are Roush built full-tube-chassis race cars in XR4Ti styled fiberglass bodies. [5]
The XR4Ti is actually a federalized version of Ford of Europe’s Sierra in luxury sports car trim, assembled at the respected Wilhelm Karmann GmbH Coachworks in Rheine, Germany. [1]
