how cold does it have to be to cancel school

Administrators at three area school districts said faulty temperature readings from the National Weather Service led them to hold classes on a day when they likely otherwise would have been canceled due to the extreme cold. [1]

Schools will cancel if the temps are dangerous for kids who walk to school or if the roads are unsafe for buses to travel on. [2]

When we lived in S. Texas kids didn’t go outside for recess if the temp was below 30. [3]

If you would take the time to review the early morning drop off patterns at schools such as Washington, Middle School, Linden, etc, you will find that many parents aren’t smart enough to drop their kids off when school is open or to dress them appropriately, or for that matter to even raise their own kids.
