i hate steven singer
THE ORIGINAL “I HATE STEVEN SINGER” Customer: 20 Years ago, a gentleman purchased a gorgeous diamond engagement ring from Steven Singer Jewelers to propose to his girlfriend. [1]
A few years ago, white scrawl on a black billboard along Interstate 95 in Philadelphia screamed: “I hate Steven Singer!” [2]
But nothing got as much attention as his huge billboards that say “I hate Steven Singer!” [3]
Every time I travel down to Philly, I see the “I Hate Steven Singer” billboard on I95. [4]
In fact, the sign was paid for by Steven Singer Jewelers, a 35-employee retail store on Philadelphia’s historic Jewelers’ Row. [2]
Steven Singer Jewelers has been one of the dominant bridal stores on the East cost for over a quarter of a century, and is now nationally known as a premiere bridel store with the largest owned inventory of GIA, EGL USA, AGA certified diamonds. [5]
The billboards lead you to his website, which includes ten reasons to hate Steven Singer (for all the jewelry he makes you buy for your wife.) In addition to communicating the unique personality of the store, the website does a good job of parodying the normal cliched jewelry website. [3]
He offers a “Diamond 101″ crash course where you’ll learn the four C’s of diamond buying. [6]
To make it worse, he completed courses in diamond residency, color stones, gem identification and cultured pearls at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). [...] While still in high school, Steven became a wholesaler in the jewelry industry on Philadelphia Jewelers Row. [7]
This lower-brow style is a sharp departure from the soft music and romantic imagery traditionally used by jewelry retailers — and has set the business apart from its competitors. [2]
In fact, people complain about them all the time, which is exactly the way Singer likes it, especially if they end up buying from him anyway. [3]
Take a look at what he’s accomplished: Before the opening of Steven Singer Jewelers? While still in high school, Steven became a wholesaler in the jewelry industry on Philadelphia Jewelers Row. [1]
Steven decides it’s time to start the Philadelphia Jewelers Row Association to create a code of ethics for jewelers and to market the district to customers throughout the region. [7]
And with a store measuring 8ft long by 8ft deep, he also had the honors of having the smallest store on the street. [1]
