Director Marina Zenovich has made a documentary film that takes a look back at the sensational Roman Polanski trial for having sex with a then 13-year-old girl. [...] I have read elsewhere that this Polanski incident contributed to the break-up between Angelica Huston and Jack Nicholson; the article I read suggested that she was out of town when all this went down and was furious that “their” house had been used for the notorious tryst. Geimer discusses events surrounding the case in the documentary Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired, which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. [2]

I believe the information as to Miss Kinski’s age at the time of the Polanski romance was actually in the documentary..(although I could be wrong and have read it elsewhere.) Jack and Angelica, of course, were a “couple” (in an odd, unusual sense) for a long time, although Jack seems, then and now, to have always seen no point in “settling down.” [3]

Before he was sentenced, Polanski fled the country for his native France and never returned. [...] Polanski was arrested and eventually pleaded guilty to statutory rape. [2]

Thank you for pointing out my mental lapse, as I know both films well. [...] Roger Gunson, who, at the time, was the 37-year-old Mormon prosecution attorney, also seems to feel that the chief judge in the case, one Lawrence J. Rittenband, the Senior Judge in Santa Monica, mishandled the case because he wanted to “choreograph” the outcome to enhance his own love of the limelight. [...] Polanski’s main defense attorney, the Lincoln-esque Douglas Dalton, is quoted (today) saying, “What actually happened to the system of justice. [...] Roman Polanski was and still is a visionary directors — a rare and true talented filmmaker. [3]
